TRANSITIONS
In the 1970’s and early 1980’s ADS designed and developed “turn-key” business solutions encompassing computer hardware, software, training, installation, implementation assistance and ongoing support.  Much of the work was pioneering in the application of computer technology for medium to large-sized business applications.
We also installed and supported computer hardware across Canada and the United States, many in mission critical environments.

By the mid-1980’s, our software design and development experience had grown to include a number of specialized business applications including Inventory Management, Interfaces to Governments, Agricultural Industries, Resource Industries, Distribution Organizations, Property Management, and many other industries with unique needs.

In the 1990’s, with the rapid growth of personal computers, networks, hosted solutions and popular Windows-based software, ADS evolved and expanded to meet the changing and growing needs of our clients who were becoming ever more proficient in technology.

In 1996, ADS partnered with a First Nation Group to fill a niche for software developed specifically to help First Nations in Canada to better manage their own affairs, and to develop their own capacities on their journey toward self-governance.  The product, branded AIS (Aboriginal Information Systems) was a suite of community management modules which has since grown to include program areas such as Membership; Education and Training; Housing, Property & Tenant Management; and Social Development.  This product line has since become an integral part of our business strategy.

In 2000, Gary Hersche, at the time a 20-year ADS employee, joined the ADS ownership group.  Gary began as a Programmer in 1979 and progressed in the organization as Senior Programmer, Customer Relationships Manager and Vice President.  Gary is active in the business managing operations as well as consulting to key clients and prospective clients.

In recent years, related to its core competency in software development, ADS has expanded its offering and capacity to include consulting to medium sized business with challenges in financial information processing and management reporting.   Drawing on ADS’s valuable corporate experience and individual specialties of our key personnel, deliverables have included reports of findings, workflow mapping and recommendations/options for improvement.

ADS has also experienced significant expansion with its  Aboriginal Information Systems (AIS) First Nation  software product.  The customer base has steadily expanded across Canada, and as a result of our close monitoring of the market, ADS continues to develop new community management modules,  to enhance existing modules and to incorporate new technologies as needs evolve.
